what is my dog doing ?

Posted by: | Comments (4)

so,i have a 9 month dalmatian.
i usually don’t leave her alone inside the whole house,i leave her at the hallway where her bed is.
she is not catastrophic, she never was.

sometimes, when i know that i will be out for a short time i don’t close the door that connects the hallway with the living room.
when i return i find at her bed a sock or a shirt.all mine !…

i yell at her and tell her not to do that again.

today it hit me,the shirts and the socks are perfectly fine, not chewed.
is she doing that because she wants something mine close to her ?
something that has my smell ?….

i will be devastated if this is right :(
poor dog wants something mine and i yell at her each time ? :(

What kind of dog is this?

Posted by: | Comments (8)

I got a puppy from the local Humane Society where I live just yesterday, and on his sheet it said he was a Heeler(Australian Cattle Dog)/MIX. — I looked on the net trying to find out what he was breed with, and most said ‘Pointer’, or ‘Dalmatian’. His markings to me remind me of a short-hair German Pointer heavily spotted, and I’m guessing the thicker coat of fur he has comes from the Heeler?

Can anyone tell me what he is? here is some pictures.

I want a dalmatian… I have done years of research and know everything about them. There is only one problem, there are none in my area, not even shelters. I would perfer not to adopt and here is why, I like to be able to show my dogs so it needs to regisitered, I will do whatever it takes to buy from a reputable breeder, I just need to know how to find one, since there are no dal breeders in my area?
Is there anyway to do it on the computer were they can send me all paper work then ship the dog, or me drive and go get one? please dont be mean I have thought this out and I really want one but can’t find any rescue’s or breeders thanks for all your answers.

Are there any animated cartoon dog shows/anime/movies I’m unaware of yet? (unlisted on my list). I’m kind of a veteran when it comes to cartoon dogs, I want to see everything no matter how obscure. Well, except for Blue’s Clues, Poochie and Fox & The Hound 2. Can’t stand country western (I’m a hard rock/metal kinda guy) and Poochie is a little too girlish for my taste.
Oh yeah, I’ve also seen CatDog and Courage. Watched them all the time, just forgot to list them.

What is my dog sick with?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

A few days ago my dog was constipated, then on Monday and since then, she has had really bad diarrhea. Today she wouldn’t eat dinner or drink water, she started shivering, and has been excessively panting, mostly when needing to go to the bathroom.
And she’s vomited once, but it was only a little bit.

She is a Dalmatian mix, and a young 3 year old, energetic girl. Today she didn’t even whine to let me know it’s time for her walk, which she is so persistent about normally. So she is a little lethargic.

The only thing I can think of that would have made her sick was some left over beef stew (from Monday) that might have had tomato puree in the broth. But the serving I gave her was only the beef, carrot, and potato from the stew, and none of the broth, so why this small amount would make her so sick doesn’t make sense.
Also, in the past she has gotten into tomato slices that have we’ve thrown out, and she only threw up. She did not get as sick as she is now.

Does anyone have any idea whats wrong with her?

I’ve had my dog for 3 years and all of a sudden her formerly pink skin is plagued with black dalmatian spots. My mom told me to rush her to the vet because it might be cancer, could it be? They started to develop just a few months ago… I have attached 2 pictures of her at Christmas 6 months ago to show you, NO SPOTS and 2 from this morning…

She eats the same food, Purina green bag
no change in anything like that.
not sure of her age, I was told she was a year old when I got her, but then a vet assistant told me she was more like 2 years, so that would make her 5 years old now.
she is a chihuahua/jack russell mix….

My girlfriend has a 12 year old dalmatian that she loves very much. Three days ago, we woke up to find her on the floor, eyes darting back and forth (nystagmus), and head tilted sharply to the side. We tried to get her to stand up but she couldn’t; even when we picked her up, she would fall over if we tried to get her to stand. At first we thought she’d had a stroke, but more research made me think she has idiopathic old dog vestibular disease. We took her to the animal hospital and the vet agreed that it was most likely, but she couldn’t rule out stroke or brain cancer. Anyway, she is getting a bit better and is able to stand and walk a little if we pick her up and put her on her feet, but she is completely unwilling to do it on her own. I’m nervous that she’ll get leg issues if she stays in one position all day, so I would like to encourage her to stand and stretch her legs a little during the day. Is there any way to encourage her to try walking on her own? My thought was moving her food dish a couple feet away so she’d have to get up to eat, but my girlfriend is afraid that she’ll just go hungry instead. What would work? Thanks!

What breed do you think my dog is?

Posted by: | Comments (11)

I adopted a shelter dog about 9 months ago. The shelter told us she was a Lab/Corgi mix. The vet said Shepherd/Chihuahua. We have heard other suggestions (terrier, pit bull, Basenji). I invested in a DNA test, and she had only minor traces of breeds–Shar-Pei, Chow Chow, and Dalmatian. What do you guys think?

Here is a link to her Dogster page:

Edit: She is about 40 pounds.

I have a 2-year old dalmatian/hound mix whose just gotten the all-clear from the vet to start jogging with me. (yay!) We’ve been doing some really light jogging for a couple minutes, followed by a couple minutes of walking. The dog is being a nightmare. She’ll run along fine for a minute or two, then stop dead to sniff at things. She knows “heel”, but somehow it’s not clicking for her that it applies even when running, and even when something smells really, really interesting. How did you train your dogs to run with you, and has anyone else had this problem? I’m thinking running might not be for her!
Thanks. :)
