Question about getting two puppies?

Posted by: | Comments (13)

Hey everyone, i know this is pretty long but please read it because it’s really important to me (:
My family are thinking about getting two puppies soon, either a golden retriever and a labradoodle (labrador crossed with a poodle), or a labradoodle and a beagle. I’m 13 and i’ve always wanted a puppy, and i adore animals. My parents have owned dogs before, but i never have. The dogs would technically be mine, because i’m the one who has been begging for them, and i would be the one who would love and play with them the most, but everyone would help in taking care of them. We have a huge backyard, and it’s very safe and it’s shaded, there is no way that a dog could get out of it. They would be indoor and outdoor dogs, sleeping inside, and they will be allowed to choose when they want to be outside and when they want to be inside. The only problem is that my parents work full time and me and my siblings go to school, so we would be leaving the house around 8:00/8:30 and coming back around 3:30/4:00, and my parents would come back around 5:00 or 6:00. This is the reason we would get two, so they can keep each other company. We can handle having two dogs. So basically they would be alone for around 8 hours, 5 days a week. Would this be ok? We are thinking about getting them during the end of year holidays so we can be with them for 6 weeks while they are puppies because of course we are not going to leave two puppies alone, is this a good idea? We would be able to exercise the dogs every day, 1 or 2 30minute-1hr walks every day, and they would be able to run around the backyard and would be given tons of love and attention, and we would play many games with them. I have a younger sister who is 8 and she will play with them all the time. I was wondering if anyone could give us some tips about what we can give them to do when we go to work/school, and about crate training and stuff, and if we should get them during the holidays. Any advice will be appreciated!!! thanks so much (:
i never said i was going to leave the puppies alone for that long! we are going to wait until they are old enough, and when we have to go back to school/work my mum will come back at lunch time to feed/play with them and we can also get like a dog sitter or something, and i’m not the only one taking care of them.
my uncle and aunt have 2 dogs (black labs) that they got at the same time (not siblings)
my other uncle and aunt have 2 dogs (a black lab and a golden retriever) that they got at the same time.
one of my friends has 2 dogs (goldendoodles) that she got at the same time.
another of my friends has 2 dogs (a boston terrier and a poodle) that she got at the same time.
one of my dad’s friends has 2 dogs (cocker spaniels, siblings!) that he got at the same time.

all these dogs are beautiful, healthy, happy, and obedient so i can’t see what your problems with 2 dogs are.

Im 13 years old and I am about to get a golden retriever very soon. I have done alot of research into the breed and I think this is the best new family memeber we could hope for

I am taking some responsability for it though since it will be my dog such as giving 2 1 hours walks a day (1 in the morning and well and hour and half at 3:30)

I dont want my pup to be lonely we had a boxer before but I wonder if she ever got lonely while no body was in because we have a kitten now and she didnt seem as lonely because they used to sleep side by side and it was cute

but anyway back to the subject should I get 2 dogs? I am scared about the double responsability but I dont think well have problems with the money plus we get the neutered (our pets)

so basicly s hould I get 2 dogs? should I get them from the same litter? or different or should I get different breeds like a labrador will thye enjoy each others company and what are the problems of having 2 dogs while things like taking themn on walks?

what do you think ?
I am fully aware that puppies cant have 2 1 hour walks Im just saying hats what I will give them as adult I will let her excersizew untill she doesnt want to anymore which will be around 15 minutes twice a day and I dont think they only eed 10 minutes a day we have had many puppies before and they neevr tire after only 5 minutes

Ok. so i have an eight year old male Labrador Retriever (he is neutered). He’s becoming less energetic, but defiantly isn’t a vegetable yet. Recently i’ve been thinking about getting a german shepherd puppy.

How would these two mix. Gender issues?

My boyfriend and I want a dog. My parents have an Australian shepard and a Queensland heeler that we used to spend a lot of time with when we lived with them. But now we want one of our own.
We both like to run a lot so we want a bigger dog. And since we have a 4 year old we want a family dog that can be easily trained. He wanted a Golden retriever but I wanted something with shorter hair. So we think a Labrador retriever might be good, but I want some other suggestions. Also does anyone know where can we find lab puppies in the Los Angeles at a good price?

How big will my puppy be?

I’m getting a mutt puppy. It’s part Cocker Spaniel, part Labrador Retriever, part Siberian Husky, and part German Shepherd.

It looks like it has more Husky/Shepherd traits than Cocker Spaniel and Labrador traits. I haven’t adopted it yet.
She looks like this right now.

Her siblings all show more Husky and GSD traits.

….recessive to normal vision. If two black Labradors with normal vision are mated, and one puppy in a litter of seven entirely black puppies has PRA, what are the likely genotypes of the parents?

A.We can’t say anything about the parental genotypes. The PRA in the puppy arose through spontaneous
B.Both parents are homozygous for both traits.
C.Both parents are heterozygous carriers of PRA, but we can’t determine what their coat-color genotype is.
D.Both parents are heterozygous for both traits.
E.One parent is heterozygous for PRA, whereas the other does not carry the trait
