Our boxer dog has a swollen eye?

By

We have a boxer and the white part of his eye is slightly swollen and pops out of his eye socket. We have an appt. for the vet tomorrow, but is there anything we can do to help his eye from getting worse. Or would you know what could have happened? We are worried, please help!

Your dog might be aellgeric to something. Trying calling your nearest humane society and ask them what it might be.

If your dog’s eye really pops out of the socket – this is an emergency!!

He needs to get to an emergency vet immediately. Cover his eye with a wet cloth, don’t let him paw at it and get going!

An emergency visit to a vet is in order if in fact the eye is popping out of the socket.24 hours could mean the loss of the eye….

Swelling of the eye could be caused by a variety of things; an abrasion on the eye, an allergic reaction, an infection on the surface of the eye or of the fluid inside the eye… You’re smart to want to get your dog to the vet as quickly as you can. For now, just make sure he doesn’t rub at the eye with his paw, or try to rub his face against the furniture or carpet. Don’t cover the eye, or try to put any medication into it that hasn’t been approved by a vet.
