What Can I Do About My Dog’s Leg Pain?

By

She’s a smaller sized dalmatian, about 12 years old. She does have arthritis, and lately it’s been bothering her a lot. She needs help getting up, and when she’s up she squeals when she puts a lot of pressure on her hind legs, or when someone touches them. It’s too late to call the vet, and even it wasn’t I’m so broke, there’s really no way I could afford to take her. Is there anything I can do to help relieve her pain? Even if it’s just temporarily. Please help my poor dog.
First of all, I do my schooling online, so they pay for my internet and give me computers, so that’s why I have access to a computer. I’m sorry that I don’t have money, it doesn’t mean that I don’t care. It means that I’m having a hard time. And I’m in debt with the vet, so they can’t make a payment plan with me. I do try, and I do care. I didn’t post this to be harassed, I posted it to get help. If you’re just going to criticize me, that’s not going to help. Not a single person has any idea?
Thank you to the people who give me helpful answers, I’ll try anything I can. =/

You have to take her to the vet seriously. Don’t let your dog suffer. I don’t think there is anything you can do. I would scrape some money together, charge it, etc. b/c it’s the worst seeing animals in pain. Just take her ASAP. Call the vet’s office to and see if they have any suggestions. Just take your dog. It doesn’t sound like something you on your own can fix.

I hope your dog feels better. :(

Really, your best option is a vet.

Aside from that though, there are dog chiropractors, and homeopathic doctors that do acupuncture and such, and I’ve seen that work wonders on arthritic dogs. However, it’s also expensive.

There are some tablets that are joint supplements that I have also seen work. I will look up a link to them and post it once I find it.

I found it. It is called canine aspirin, and it is specifically for dog arthritis relief. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+14824+8512&pcatid=8512

no its too late to call the vet whe shes dead it is NOT too late to call the vet. BRING HER, call ahead and work out a payment plan im sorry but a resposible dog owner is always prepared for and emergency and a loving caring one will do whatever they need to to give the dog the medical attention it needs. you dont seem even have tried or care for that matter!

Try Cosequin, it’s glucosamine for dogs… I give it to my dog every day after leg surgery for luxating patellas as per instruction from my vet. You can buy it online, from 1-800-pet meds or entirelypets.com, but it is about $25 a bottle, and that
is for my 15 lb. Boston Terrier. Good Luck

Awwww, that’s so sad. I love dogs. I also have the same problem with not being able to afford to take my dog to the vet. I understand where a lot of people don’t. They think that everyone has enough money to take a dog to the vet when we can’t even afford to go to the doctor ourselves. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have an animal. You could do some research online to see what kind of medicines you could give to your dog. There should be some free information from vet sites that could help. It’s dangerous to give a dog human medicine unless you talk to a vet first or research. If I find any information I will add to this. Good luck and I am so sorry for your dog.
