Which size crate for a German Shepherd Dog?
ByI know they say measure the dog, but I don’t have the dog yet.
60-70 pound adult German Shepherd dog.
Do I get a 42″ crate or a 48″ Crate?
Stupid question, but I just can’t decide! I guess bigger can’t hurt, but it takes up more space in my house. Anyone have a 60-70 pound Shepherd?
Thanks.

You need a crate that is big enough for your dog to stretch and turnaround comfortably. I would get the largest one you can find. He might light to lay on his side with his legs outstretched, etc.

I have a 70 lb shepherd bull mastiff mix. If you really feel the need for the crate, I would go bigger…….. but why crate the dog?

As big as possible because they grow fast. My best friend has 3 and they are huge, only about 3 years old. Hope you have a big yard or a park nearby.

you should go with the bigger one so he has room to turn around in

I have a 70lb German shepherd and we crate her in a 48″ crate. She’s gotta enough room to turn around and lay down comfortably. It’s plenty tall for her too.

I would go with the 48″ and if she is a pup just use a divider to adjust the size of the crate as she grows.

Get the largest, gsd’s like to stretch out. Why get the create in the first place? GSD’s are very quick learners I have never stuck my dog in a cage & @ one point I had 7 show dogs in my house each dog I had from pup never went in a cage, you keep your eye on them put down paper @ bed time or when your going out what makes you think it isn’t gonna go in the cage? Would you like to be caged?

i think a 48 cuz your dog would fit in the 42 but if you get 48 the dog can move around a little
